DATA & METRICS REVIEW

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB ) Data and Measurements

Many people are unaware of the significant role that data and metrics have in the practice of DEIB. We treat data as "a superpower." Identifying baseline data when providing consultation and assessment for an organization creates the foundation for a comprehensive and effective DEIB consultation. DMS always includes a data review to establish the baseline and uses Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Timebound - SMART goals - to determine applicable metrics for projects, initiatives, training, and coaching sessions when our services are retained.



DATA AND METRICS EXAMPLES:

  • Demographics - REaL Data (race, ethnicity, and language) in the organization and the community location of the organization.
  • Talent Review Data- this can include Regrettable Loss, Employee Turnover Rates by Race, ethnicity, gender, and Age, and Employee Engagement rates.
  • Training Evaluations and Outcomes - may include measuring Knowledge before/after and the percentage of increased knowledge gained upon completion of training(s).
  • Potential application of gained knowledge in the workplace.
  • Tracking progress and performance equitably.
  • Gap Analysis


These are some of the measurements that are routinely built into an inclusive and equitable organization. Consistent review assists in tracking progress to meet annual goals and identifies areas for intervention and development. It can inform the strategic plan of needed resources and resource allocation, improve employee engagement by enhancing transparency and accountability, promote positive change, and impact the culture. Based on the industry, other data points and metrics may be considered to arrive at the best approach and plan for your organization.
